The AgelCares Foundation is dedicated to the ideal that one person really can make a difference in the world. The AgelCares "Hero of the Year" award is presented annually to the individual or group that best exemplifies this ideal by providing leadership, love and compassion to those in need.
AgelCares, "Bringing Hope to the World"
All of the participants in last year's excursion to Cuzco, Peru for AgelCares have been nominated for 2012 Hero of the Year. These everyday heroes traveled to South America on their own dime and then spent valuable time and resources helping children in an impoverished region of Peru. The AgelCares Foundation deeply appreciates their outstanding efforts and support. We say "thank you" again for all they did to leave a lasting impression on these children. We will forever treasure our memories of that excursion. We will continue to post nominees throughout the year. This year's winner of the AgelCares Hero of the Year Award will be announced at AgelWorld in September.
"It was a great experience to be with other dreamers to see the glow in the kid's eyes and see how we were able to change their future. This has been a gift that has reinforced the path of giving to others that I have started. You receive when you give. I am AgelCares 1000%."
"Being in Peru gave me a sensation of feeling full. We were able to leave a mark on these children. I felt proud to be with all the team that attended and that we got much more from the experience than we gave."
"The experience in Peru reminded me how lucky I am to be part of Agel and AgelCares and showed me that with little things you can do a lot. It's important to give back because sharing feelds your soul. AgelCares is for giving back and makes you a better person."
"I had an incredible experience in Peru. We left the children with a new library full of tables, chairs and hundreds of books. It felt wonderful to help make a difference in their lives. I loved the people that I worked with to help these children."
"The AgelCares trip to Peru will be a lasting memory for me. It was a wonderful experience to help these precious little children. The love that came from their sweet faces was a gift I will always treasure."
"What we did in Cuzco was important, there was a group of people that selflessly took the determination to become part of a project to help a community in Peru and made it REAL. If we help each other more our world will be the beautiful home that is meant for all of us."
"I had a wonderful time in Peru. We changed the lives of the little children in Cuzco. AgelCares is a gift that keeps on giving and in giving we receive. I thank AgelCares for this opportunity!"

At an early age, Athisanun Yorsangrat's parents taught her the importance of helping people that have less than her. Often times as a child, Athisanun's parents would encourage her to give one Baht of her own money to people on the street that were in need. This desire to give has continued throughout her life as she works for Agel and donates to AgelCares. In the three years that she has been an Agel team member, Athisanun has organized multiple charity and AgelCares events. Her latest event raised over 100,000 Baht for Tsunami relief to the people of Japan and Thailand.
When asked why it is important to organize AgelCares events, Athisanun said, "This is important to me because I believe that people have a responsibility to provide support for one another."
To Athisanun, there is nothing better than doing service for others. "I love it. Never do I feel better about how I have spent my time than at the end of the program. Every moment is so meaningful and worthwhile."
Athisanun, you truly are a hero!
Double Diamond Billy Looper and the South Florida Leadership Council was inspired by the overwhelming success of the AgelCares Walk of Hope at AgelWorld 2009. Chuck Dinsmore came up with the idea of staging a Walk on Fort Lauderdale Beach and calling it the "Walk on Water." They quickly developed a logo and a website and started contacting friends and business colleagues for pledges. To kick-off the competitive spirit, Triple Diamond Randy Gage offered to match the highest total raised by any single Agel Team Member. Grace Cruz raised over $1,000 USD. David and Heather Sinbella raised over $2,000. But Jerry Volmer (a relatively new Agel enrollee) caught the spirit and started collecting $500 checks from his partners at work. He raised $4,000, which was doubled by Randy Gage. From 38 walkers came a check for $15,754, presented to AgelCares at a special reception with Glen Jensen and Mica Moseley. A silent auction at the reception raised $1,500 more for a grand total of over $17,000 USD.
